The Christmas Story Matthew 1:22-23

Good morning. Let's look at the Christmas story and ancient Bible prophecies. We will go a day at a time. We will just go slow and take 5 or 6 days.

Ancient Bible Prophecies
Fulfilled in The Birth of Christ

Isaiah 7:14: Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

The word for 'virgin' here is carefully chosen. 'Alma', in actual usage in the Hebrew scriptures refers to a maiden chaste and unmarried.

Matthew 1:22-23: All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 'The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel'--which means, 'God with us.'
When the angel declared to Joseph that Mary's child was conceived by the Holy Spirit and would be a son. This reveals an important truth about Jesus - he is both God and Human.
Jesus means "the LORD saves." Jesus came to earth to save us because we can't save ourselves from sin and its consequences.

In Christ's Love and Grace
