A ransom of blood. 1 Peter 1:18,19 Be Holy!
Good morning everyone. God is good all the time, all the time God is good. TOO BLESSED TO BE STRESSED!
Okay, we have looked at 1 Peter 1:13-17 this week. Just a recap. We must live as God wants us to live, in obedience - showing self control and being focused. God is Holy and we are to be Holy, turning away from our desires and inwardly committing to God. We should have a reverent fear or healthy respect of God. Now verses 18-19.
1 Peter 1:18,19 "For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God."
As a slave we are freed or ransomed when someone pays money to buy that freedom. God is far more, He did not just "ransome" us with gold or silver, aka money, but with the precious blood of His own Son.
We cannot escape sin; our atonement is Jesus Christ, God's son. What greater love hath one than to lay down their life. Jesus did this for you and me. How difficult this would have to be. Would you give your child up if you knew it would save your family, your community, the world? The mind may say YES, but what does the flesh say? It has to come from an inward redirection and focus - focus on Jesus.
Remember God's command is not "Be happy" but "BE HOLY." Are you? Look in the mirror - reflect. Love you all.
In Christ's Love and Grace
Johnny
