The command to write

Good morning!! Can you believe, the first week of June is already gone? What a great day to be alive in Jesus Christ! God is good all the time, all the time God is good! Let us look at the end of Revelations chapter one.

The command to write, vs. 19-20 "Write the thing which thou has seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter; The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand and the seven golden candlesticks. the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches; and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches."
Verse 19 is the key verse of the book; it indicates the threefold plan of the prophecy and it is the only safe guide to its correct interpretation. Write about: thou hast seen...which are...which shall be hereafter.

Verse 20 the angels of the seven churches....are not literal angels, nor believers in general; but are pastors as will be shown in chapters 2-3. These pastors or ministers, of the local churches, are in places of authority and responsibility. Local congregations are likened to seven candlesticks in order to convey their function of testimony and to spread the light of the gospel.

Questions to ponder:
1) What did John mean when he wrote "the time is near?" (Matt 24:36-39; 2 Pet 3:3-4
2) How did John describe the future second coming of Christ?
3) How will unbelievers (Jews and Gentiles) respond to the return of Christ? Zech 12:10
4) Describe the amazing appearance of the Son of Man in this vision (v13-18). What do these images convey about Christ?
5) What effect did this vision of the risen Christ have on John? (Vs. Gen 17:3; Num. 16:22; Isa. 6:108; Ezek 1:28; Acts 9:4)
6) Why is Revelation 1:19 SUCH A SIGNIFICANT VERSE IN RELATION TO OUR UNDERSTANDING OF THIS BOOK?

Thank you for reading with me today. May God bless your path. Love you all.

In Christ's Love and Grace

Johnny
