Revelation 4:2,3

Revelation 4:2 "And instantly I was in the Spirit, and I saw a throne in heaven and someone sitting on it. The one sitting on the throne was as brilliant as gemstones-like jasper and sardius stone. And the glow of an emerald circled his throne like a rainbow."
Four time in the book of Revelation John says he was "in the Spirit." This expression means that the Holy Spirit was giving him a vision - showing him situationa and events he could not have seen with mere human eyesight. All true prophecy comes from God through the Holy Spirit.

God's Throne is mentioned 11 times in Revelation. A symbol of God's sovereign rule and authority. Verse 4 "like a rainbow" - from the time of Noah, the rainbow became a sign of God's faithfulness to His Word, His promises, and His Noahic covenant (Gen. 9:12-17)
