Count your blessings!
Well, hello!! Let's begin looking at Peter. God is good all the time, all the time God is good!!! 1 Peter starts out with God's great blessings to his people. (1:1 -2:10) Then the conduct of God's people in the midst of suffering (2:11-4:19). And finally the shepherding of God's people in the midst of suffering (5:1-14)
Peter wrote to Jewish Christians who were experiencing persecution for their faith. He wrote to comfort them with the hope of eternal life and to challenge them to continue living holy lives. Those who suffer for being Christians become partners with Christ in his suffering. As we suffer, we must remember that Christ is both our hope in the midst of suffering and our example of how to endure suffering faithfully.
Our salvation is a gracious gift from God. God chose us out of his love for us, Jesus died to pay the penalty for our sin, and the Holy Spirit cleansed us from sin when we believed. Eternal life is a wonderful gift for those who trust in Christ.
1 Peter 1:1 "This letter is from Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ. I am writing to God's chosen people who are living as foreigners in the provinces of Pontus, Galatia Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia."
This letter is talking to the Jewish Christians scattered throughout the world as a result of persecution against believers in and around Jerusalem. The first believers and leaders of the early church were Jews.
Think about this verse for a while and we will visit more about it later. Thank you for reading with me. Love you all.
In Christ's Love and Grace
Johnny
