To compromise or not to compromise...that's the ?

Good morning everyone!! Another great day to be alive in the Lord JESUS CHRIST!! GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME, ALL THE TIME GOD IS GOOD!!

Okay, then. John just wrote to the angel of the church in Pergamos in verse 12. Now listen to verse 13.

Revelation 2:13 "I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is; and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth."
where Satan's seat or throne is - this talks of Satan's usurped world power. He is identified in Scripture as the prince of this world (Mt. 4:8-9; II Cor 4:4) Pergamos was the headquarters of satanic opposition and a Gentile base for false religions.

holdest fast my name - this may refer to the Arian controversy, which lasted for over a century and was finally settled in A.D. 325 by the Council of Nicaca. They did not deny Christ's name.

Antipas - probably the pastor of the church. Nothing is known about Antipas except that he did not compromise. He was faithful, and he died for his faith.

Some in the church were tolerating those who taught or practiced what Christ opposed. Compromise can be defined as a blending of the qualities of two different things, or a concession of principles. We can cooperate with people as much as possible, but avoid any alliance, partnership, or participation that could lead to immoral practices.

faithful martyr - tradition says Antipas was burned to death inside a brass bull. Martyr, a transliteration of the Greek word, means "witness." Because so many of the witnesses faithful to Christ were put to death, the word martyr developed its current definition.

Are you faithful to Jesus Christ, the Word, or faithful to the world around you? Strong question, stronger internal struggle, which way will you turn? Love you all.

In Christ's Love and Grace
Johnny
