You have a crown coming! 2 Timothy 4:8

Good morning everyone! God is good all the time, all the time God is good.

2 Timothy 4:8 "And now the prize awaits me-the crown of righteousness, which the LORD, the righteous judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing."

Yesterday we talked about fighting the good fight and finishing the race yet remaining faithful. In the Roman era the athletic games were highly regarded and to the winner a laurel wreath was given. This is what Paul is talking about in lay terms so all, at that time, would understand.

Paul, however, is talking about a "crown of righteousness" which we will receive in heaven. We may not receive an earthly reward but we will be rewarded in heaven. Whatever we face, discouragement, persecution, or death, we know we will receive reward with Christ in heaven.

2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all stand before Christ to be judged. We will each receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we have done in this earthly body."

Eternal life is a free gift by God's grace; each of us will still be judged by Christ. He will reward us for how we have lived. God's gracious gift of salvation does not free us from the requirement of faithful obedience. All Christians must give account on the day of judgment of how they have lived.

Are you living in the word? Or in the world? If in the world, then get the "l" out and get back to the word. (notice difference between word and world is the l). Love you all.

In Christ's Love and Grace
Johnny
